Lary Rauh (born in 2000) is a multidisciplinary artist from Germany, but currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Fashion Photography at the University of the Arts London. Her initial interest in fashion design eventually led her to take up photography, the interplay between the two being particularly important to her practice. In her garment-based works, she experiments with unusual materials such as waste, fabric scraps or organic matter. Recently, she is branching into moving image, sculpture and installation. The interrogation of capitalism’s impact on nature, communities and individuals’ (mental) health constitutes the core of her work. Oscillating between apocalypse and utopia, realism and surrealism, her work invites audiences to recognize beauty in the pre-existing resources all around, but not without a reminder of the precarious situation humankind finds itself in.
